Understanding your lawyer's fees is an essential aspect of hiring him or her. Our firm charges clients in a number of different ways. We offer flat rate legal fees for residential real estate transactions. Most clients prefer flat rate fees because it allows them to know how what the bill will be before the matter is completed.
Lawyers also charge disbursements, which are out-of-pocket expenses. Typical disbursements include things such as registration fees and title search fees, postage, courier fees, software fees, transaction levies, cheque certification and banking fees, etc. In certain matters, such as a standard real estate transaction, a lawyer will know or have a good approximation of what the disbursements will be. In other matters, the total amount of disbursements will not be known in advance. We charge a flat rate disbursement amount for standard real estate transactions. There are no hidden fees in our prices.
